P.S: What on earth is everything coming to?
Average time to read0:27 minutes aprox.What on earth is everything coming to?
Maybe it’s the public character of the telephone that makes it ‘accountable’ to give non-discriminatory information fairly.
How come we allow corporate censorship to interfere with messages on racism, war, genocide etc but not abortion?
Who called for discrimination when Verizon dropped Akon a few month ago?
The issue is not the rightness or wrongness of abortion. It’s about advertising your convictions wherever you want. Nobody has whatever he or she wants.
Get your advert elsewhere… Television, radio, the Internet etc, just don’t call me discriminatory for deciding not to advertise your opinion.
Very soon, we be called paedophilphobics for thinking paedophilia is immoral.
 Shmff!

@olajuwon,
u are very correct, they refused the deal at first but then after been accused of discrimination, they reversed their decision. I would not have refused the deal in the first place, there was no reason to. What the pro-abortion grp was asking for was in no way going to go against any of their policies, i think their initial decision was taken hastily.

@delagasky,we jus gats 2 be evrywhere,how now?i think i disagree with «verizon should reverse their stand cos of the money involved»,yeah they are a telecoms company out to make max profit but am sure they have principles too now,they must have policies.
of course,u cant control who does or doesnt get the messages now,haba.but does that even count in this case cos the vibe i got was that Verizon was been acused of been discrimnatory cos they refused the deal,am i correct???

@olajuwon,
you find me come here again???? anyway, help me ask funmilayo o, i just wonder how she gets the time to do all this research, she probably has a software robot checking all sorts for her. Anyway, verizon is in the phone biz for money and if after reviewing the situation, they find that they'd be loosing some serious money, off course they should reverse their stand. Mind you, this guys only want a short code for pple to subscribe to, the messages wont be falling into the hands of pple who dont want it.

@delagasky,how do u mean??i think it was an exclusive decision for verizon to make ooh,if they choose not to give them the code to say watver it is then they should carry their ad elsewhere now abi?
but una dey try ooh,where una dey hear things like dis?

@funmilayo,
what exactly are you driving at? Do you support what verizon did in the first instance by refusing to be the medium for the Naral group? For me it was a small misunderstanding as verizon was only trying to stand by their policy that limits them from helping to propagate controversial issues like war, homosexuality etc. What the naral grp was asking for was a short code that pro-abortion individuals can subscribe to and receive solicited messages. This in no way negates their policy on such issues. But really, it would be difficult for any coy that exists majorly to make money to take a stand on some issues, which was why Akon was dropped by the same verizon, for them it is bad publicity. But what those other artist that still got support from them?
