What else can I add? It is all well said. I am not doing God any favor when I pay one tenth of my \income as tithe. The truth is, I am doing myself a great favor ;-)
1. How can a man receive when his fist is clenched?
2. The devourer does not ask for 10% he will go above 100%.
So case closed. I will rather give God than put myself in a TIGHT situation.
I will not wait for any Pastor to preach before I obey this biblical injuction.
If others do not believe in tithing, well I do not have a quarrel with them, only pity.
Even non-chrisitian businessmen who are successful testifies that they cannot afford
to stop giving to charity! That means they have stumbled on the secret unknowingly ;-)

knowledge puts you over and above....i've never had regrets paying my tithe as a student cos its a means of securing my future.throughout 2007,i never went to the hospital not to talk of taking paracetamol cos the devourers have been rebuked for my sake.i have grown to be a "reckless" giver!why?it is God that gives thee power to get wealth!it wasnt easy, giving 10% of 8k my monthly allowie as a student because my mind was yet to grasp the concept of tithin(100% even isnt enough and God is asking for 10%).now i pay tithes of tens of thousands so paying a tithe of 5M wont be hard!its not enough to tithe you have to trust God to provision.you have to exercise faith and water your seeds with your confessions.as a student,i live BIG cos i'm a giver!money isnt the paper we hold dearly to,its intrinsic value is in the mind.wealth just like poverty exists in the realm of the mind.if the world practise giving in the names of CSR and philanthropic gestures and it works for them then one need not look far!
i wonder what God was thinking when he said "prove me if i would not open the window of heaven....".in other words he meant "TRY ME"!
dipo,no wonder king solomon secured the kingdom by his giving...there was no war throughout his reign israel was at peace all through.no wonder solomon was the wisest-his giving moved God that he came to him in the night with a blank cheque.another tither is papa abraham, that's why "he was rich in all things".another great man is Pastor kenneth Copeland who is a reckless giver-no wonder he lives big!hey our own very fela durotoye,Bishop Oyedepo and Pastor Chris who all gave their way to the top.a palm that is full has no room to receive, part with what you have to get more or how do you receive with a closed fist?
"there is he that scattereth and yet increaseth and another hoardeth and tends to lack"...the hand of the giver is always on top!
dipo, thanks for an inpsiring piece.i just have to print this for my ushers!

Thanx Dipo.

i'm not a regular tithe payer. no wonder so many devoures in my life: my children alway silk, loss in businessess & investment, lack of promotions etc.

Your write up challenges me more than what my pastor had preached for years bcos i always view it from the angle that 'men of God' wants to enriched themselves.

I prayed after reading this write up for forgiveness, grace to pay tithe regularly and be a sacrificial giver.

thanx once more borther for revealing this wonderfull secret of God's blessings.

Matt. 17:25
“What do you think, Simon? From whom do the kings of the earth take customs
or taxes, from their sons or from strangers?”

Why would God leave the requirement of tithing on his Children that can be led
by grace through the Spirit on how much to give?

Spot on! Dipo,
This line IMO is for me:"...the only reason you would prefer the broker’s advice to the advice you get from God is because of greed. The broker paints a bigger picture of the returns and the greed in you gets attracted." Not as though i dont pay my tithes, i do but i know where this line hits me.I found myself recently going for some shares against an inner prompting to fore go it or reduce the number of units to enable me fulfil a certian financial commitment made in the church. Enough said!

Many thanks for the insights on the subject matter.

Luv u!

You are right Dipo.

I heard a testimony from Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor. He needed 10million naira for a personal business. He fasted and prayed and the money wasn't forth coming. One day a missionary came to him and complained about his only car that was stolen. He was moved with compassion and wanted to replace it with a second hand car. There the holy spirit told him to buy him a new car. He struggled but he obeyed. 2 months later a man came to his house and gave him a cheque of 10.5million. He was shocked. He would have been praying, fasting and struggling endlessly.

Also there is an instance of someone that has given out almost 6 cars to the church and God keeps blessing me.

I have learnt that one of the keys to financial success is giving. Remember that the givers' hand is always on top.

Funny though, I was using a wrong data to compute the report above; I realized that Warren Buffet is now ranked Forbes #1 richest man. What can I say? It onlly buttressed my point above.
