thanks for this piece dipo. perhaps you should share with us the write up that was recommended to the swedish environment board. bigg up for making us proud overseas, knew you wouldnt let us down. just thought of jacob and his employment hsitory fews hours before reading this piece and this tallies with my thoughts entirely. would you believe that the bible is actually pro enterpreneurship? jacob successfully made the transition from employee to employee how many would endure his hardhip?

Thanks for this Dipo.
Obviously, ones environment plays a vital role in his behaviour and career. The people you mix up with in the church, environment, school, etc for instance, could affect your choice of career. However, I pray God to open our eyes to discover or rediscover ourselves on time.

@Emeka,
Spot on on the Iwealas.
THB, when i got home yesterday and was pondering over this post and my comments, their case esp that of Okechukwu (though i cudunt remember his name) readily sprang to mind to further reaffirm this view.
Conformism has destroyed a lot of talents and we are all guilty of it at least to some extent.
Somebody once said, "I MAY NOT BE THE BEST, BUT DEFINITELY I AM NOT LIKE THE REST"

Luv U!

cant agree wiv you more
@ all
All men who have achieved great things have been great dreamers.
                                   ......Orison Swett Marden
our environment no doubt plays a vital role in discovering who we really are.but then who we really are is a factor of our make-up(innate abilities),environment(schools attended, friends even church).all this play a role in moulding us.according to abraham maslow's hierarchy of needs the highest need of man is self-actualization(the need to fully express himself, the joy of being all that he wants to be,the realization of his dreams).this need varies and this includes those who make negative impactsi.e Hitler
not to mention that some people would rather want to climb the corporate ladder than become a dangote.why?we are all uniquely different!!until we desire a change(whatever kind of change),until we detest the status quo and challenge our ourselves and dare to act out our latent and innate desires the future would always become an illusion.the celebrated american human civil rights act, rosa parks, challenged the racial discrimination at the risk of her life and she became a hero.mandela never gave up his dream of a free&liberated country though jailed he became SA's president(he may not have even desired it).
jay jay may never have been a best seller author if were a writer but that which he desired and honed became a skill.a ready example is okonjo-iweala son's,Okechukwu Warigbo Iweala ,who is harvard trained(studied social studies)yet is a US-based rapper or his elder brother,Uzodinma, also harvard trained(read english) and is the author of a novel "beasts of no nation" which you can find at amazon.com(world's largest online bookstore if i am right) yet their father,Ikemba,is an accomplished neurosurgeon based in Washington DC and we all know their mom(world bank VP and former naija's finance minister).pdiddy was one of the guests on CNN world economic forum(dropped out of howard university to pursue music and rose from being an intern to a ceo).i believe that the part of our environment that plays a part in allowin us to express ourselves includes our families and friends who become angels that guide, encourage and inspire in the direction of our dreams.serena&venus willimans are who they are today because someone believed in them and was the human part of the environment that nutured their dreams.
its all bout knowin that dream that warms your heart that you never felt or even feel but negelct maybe out of ignorance, uncertainty or just being unsure of what we really want to do with our lives.not all will be dangote, jayjay, psquare, erastus akingbola or bill gates but the koko is to live your dream and follow your purpose in life.follow your dream.know your purpose in life.let God direct your path. we all can make a difference and then make a change.because dipo follow his heart he gave birth to this platform that has helped great minds like royal_prince,christian and my himble self express ourselves.dont you think we are all making a difference?i bet we all are.wisdom atracts riches and wisdom is not just knowin the right thing but doing what you ought to do-the right thing.lets strive to be the best of the best in what we do!
life is not its duration but in its donation.

Spot On! Dipo,
Confirms once again that whenever talent/passion (or hoby) is turned into a career the result is always stardom and even wealth. Let me still add here that the realities of life esp. in the nagirian setting seem to make us ignore our talent in order to "meet up".
I, for one, have always believe that our environment plays a part in allowing us xpress ourselves. The next big challenge therefore is finding the right environment.

Don't quite agree with you on this:
"...we mostly don't understand because Jay Jay expresses himself best in football does not mean he is born a footballer. If Jay Jay was born into a home filled with academia, Jay Jay may have been professional writer authoring many text books; his environment played a big role in his platform of expression..."
What can you say about Osaze with his educated parents (one of whom is a medical doctor if am correct) or movie stars born to intellectuals? This is just one out of many. Have you noticed that some of these guys do have problems with their "educated" parents while growing up becuase of the love and pursuit of their passion. The truth is that Jay Jay noticed his talents (which probably was his hobby back then) and stuck to it. If he had chosen anything else say writing he may have made a good writer but am sure would not have been celebrated the way he is today as a footballer .

May God help us discover our true selves and the right environment to xpress it.

Hello Dipo---I do hope you're having a splendid weekend. It takes an open eyes to to catch up with opportunities.

Trully our hobbies most atimes is a pointer to what we show case us to the world. It's just that a lot of people are waiting for some one to always be motivatiing them before they take any step that relates to the fulfilment of thier dreams.

Talking about Jay Jay---Each time i see or hear about him, i always think of his feet as "The Millionaire Dollar Feet", why beacuse he has really groomed himself to become a professional footballer. I wish him well in his next endeavour now that he has bowed out of Soccer.

It's better for us to live everyday as if it were our last day on earth.

Before God sends any new born baby to the earth He saw a need on the earth and implanted that talents/gift in to that person beore his/her mother gave birth to him---that is to say that each and every one of us on the earth is a solution to someone else'e problem.

Mlchael Dell today is being celebrated becuase he gave the world Dell PC that's uniquely build and affordable. It all started as a dream.

Any one that dont want to miss his/her slot in life should not be slotful.

We all shall fulfil our destiny.
