Slumdog Millionaire may have conquered this year’s Academy Award with 8 Oscars including the prestigious Best Picture Award but the rag-to-riches plot may have hit some nuggets that most people fail to adhere to; always follow LOVE and your experiences along the way will help you win the challenges of any opportunity that opens up to you. This is the pattern I have observed in every autobiography of wealthy men I have read.

 

In my post titled; “Windows of Heaven”, I explained that harvest is accompanied by labor; since you sow from what you labor, you would also reap from what you labor. I used the story of David and Goliath to illustrate my point but I did not mention that David was simply following LOVE; he loved defending his fathers’ sheep and experienced fighting with lions and bears along the way. These experiences were very crucial in his epic battle with Goliath.

 

In Slumdog Millionaire like the case of David, the major reason Kamal was participating in the “Who wants to be a Millionaire” show was to fight for what he loved NOT for the money though there was a “money” reward. Everybody watching the show may believe Kamal was in it for the money but only Kamal knew why he was on the show.  Despite the fact that David was asking about the reward for killing Goliath, his grief was in an uncircumcised Philistine attacking God’s people. If it was the reward, people would definitely not be running away from Goliath.

 

 

Therefore it is the LOVE for what you do that attracts the challenges that gives you the experience(s) you need to conquer the harvest. Ted Turner, the billionaire founder of CNN and other media giants like Time Warner, discusses in his book titled; “Call Me Ted” how CNN was highly criticized in its inception and how CNN was running at a consistent 4-year loss before the tide turned. Trust me; it is only LOVE that can make a business man run an outfit for a consistent 4-year loss. These losses are crucial to CNN’s success.

 

Jacob worked 14 years for LOVE and his experiences while working gave him a genetic formula for breeding sheep. Wealth was transferred from Laban to Jacob because of this genetic formula. Jesus said it this way in John 4: 35 (paraphrased); “do not say it will take 4 months before the harvest; lift up your eyes, for the harvest in NOW”. Everywhere around you is the harvest but you need to consciously lift up your eyes to see it. Remember, the harvest is laborious.

 

     

No matter how high you raise your eyes, you cannot SEE beyond your experience; you cannot go through experiences if you do not go through a LOVE project. So the solution is simple; go through a project you love and gain experiences. Your experiences would make you SEE what others do not SEE and make you understand what others do not understand. This is simply the concept of how wealth is transferred.

 

Wealth flows to the guy with the highest perceived value: I have had this funny experience that I cannot simply shake off; they are suddenly becoming a pattern ‫ every time I try to book for a first class ticket in one of the 5 star airlines, they are always full. I could easily conclude from my experience that there is a world where people rush to pay almost double the price of a coach ticket for a little above the coach’s value proposition.

 

 

 

This means there is hope; you only need a little above the average value to draw huge wealth. You don’t need to hold on too much to your money; use your money to make yourself valuable through the LOVE-EXPERIENCE-SIGHT cycle and wealth would always flow to you. Wealth is not the accumulation of money but the dissemination of value. These are the thoughts that have been flowing in mind for the past one week; I hope I have been able unburden them……
