this problem of chasing shadows even though our ‘gut/instincts’ tell us different, cuts across board -young, old, experienced, inexperienced… in many phases of our lives but what i find most annoying is when people, who for whatever reason want to eat their cake and have it, decide to half-heartedly follow their gut/instincts while getting paid for their ‘safe’ jobs i.e doing something else on the side which ordinarily demands their full attention. there may be no moral reason against working two jobs – as long as you can give of your best in both (especially the one that makes you a paid employee)- however like the Bible says, no man can serve two masters at the same time and do that effectively. so, to the point i am trying to make….the problem is when paid employees exploit people ( in desperate situations) to get their ‘side job’ done and pay them a pittance.

i’d love to be part of any well-meaning initiative-existing or new- to give the unemployed youth of Nigeria, hope and meaningful occupation. sadly things havent changed that much from my days of job hunting (or yours either) and to think some of us got away scot-free eventually and are not doing anything about helping the situation!
