The UoPeople is a leading provider of tuition free education with students from more than 135 countries all over the world who are receiving quality tuition-free education.

UoPeople

University of the People (UoPeople) is the world’s only tuition-free, non-profit, online, degree-granting academic institution dedicated to opening access to higher education globally. Based on the principles of e-learning and peer-to-peer learning, coupled with open-source technology and Open Educational Resources, UoPeople is designed to provide access to undergraduate degree programs for qualified individuals, despite financial, geographic or societal constraints.

Degree-Granting Approval:

UoPeople is approved to operate by the State of California and is approved by the California Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) to award degrees.

Programs Offered:

University of the People offers the following four degree programs: Associate (2 years) and Bachelor (4 years) degrees in Computer Science, and Associate and Bachelor degrees in Business Administration.

Location:

With a convenient virtual web address, the University of the People is accessible anywhere a computer and Internet connection exists.

As an online university, all classrooms, correspondences, books and materials are found entirely online with University of the People. So long as you have access to an internet connection, meet the admission requirements, and are admitted, you may study at UoPeople conveniently from within your home country.

Eligibility to Apply:

University of the People is open to students in need of higher education. In order to apply to University of the People, notarized/official proof of high school completion, 18 years of age or older and English proficiency (as all studies are in English) are the only requirements.

Admissions Process:

The admissions application process consists of two parts.

  • Part 1 takes place online and requires an applicant to fill out personal information and respond to essay questions.
  • Part 2 takes place offline, and consists of sending all of the required documents to UoPeople’s Office of Admissions by post.
  • Once UoPeople receives the complete application, it will be processed for the next available term. There are five terms a year with UoPeople that you may apply to.

English Language Requirements (TOEFL or IELTS)

University of the People was created to open the gates to all qualified individuals around the world.

If you are unable to send an IELTS or TOEFL certificate, UoPeople will still consider your application. If you are accepted at UoPeople, you will become an Accelerated English student, which means you will automatically be registered for the course ENGL 0101 English Composition 1. You will then be required to pass the course with a grade of C or above in order to continue on to your desired undergraduate program.

Cost to Attend:

University of the People is a tuition-free university. UoPeople students will never be charged for their educational instruction, course materials or annual enrollment. UoPeople has succeeded in cutting down almost the entire cost of higher education. In order to remain sustainable, UoPeople asks students to cover an application processing fee ($10-$50), as well as the cost of processing exams at $100 per end-of course exam. There are no other fees. If you are unable to pay all or part of this amount and you are accepted at UoPeople, you may apply for a scholarship.
