Encourage Your Children to Code

“A good person leaves inheritance for his children’s children but a sinner’s wealth is laid up for the righteous.”…Proverbs 13:22 NIV

If you do not know by now, then it will be a pleasure to enlighten you that the present digital technology trend reveals a strong indication that the future belongs to those with applicable knowledge in computing  – from mobile apps to the Internet cloud proliferation. Every profession will have no choice but to integrate Information Technology or suffer extinction. Hence, it is better to expose your children early to the digital world to become digital creators.

openSAP is providing two courses to help children and teenagers to learn to code starting October 1. So whether you’ve got children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or your ward, get involved and encourage them to sign up and get a head start in the world of coding! You’ll be truly amazed at how fast your children get up to speed with coding skills. And if they’ve never written a line of code in their life, don’t worry. This course will get them started step-by-step.

The first course Teaching Programming to Young Learners is aimed at teachers, parents, and guardians of children aged 8-11 years old. The second course, Teens Get Coding is aimed at teenagers’ aged 12-17 and will introduce coding in a fun and interactive way.

Both courses will teach learners to create their own interactive stories, games, and animations using the free MIT program, Scratch, in a suitable way for their age group. Scratch helps young people learn to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively — essential skills for life in the 21st century.
