There is United State Dollars literarily falling in the streets of Ho Chi Minh City (the commercial point of Vietnam) and only those that can SEE will grab it with both hands. Whenever I recognize that someone is financially wealthier than I am, I know that there is something this person knows that I don’t. I am humble enough to want to find out but I realize people guard their economic secret and hold them close to their chest. However, I will do the opposite because I believe the sky is big enough for everybody.
  Â
China has long been regarded as the workshop of the world; almost everything we use in the world is produced in China. When the secret of the Nike brand business model was revealed, it ushered in huge traffic to the Asian Tiger region; giving them one of the best economy in the world. The business model was simple; produce at the lowest cost possible with your quality specification and brand placement and reap huge profit margin in your country.
Â
Vietnam has done better than China by widening the profit margin you can achieve but this has been under-exploited especially by Nigerian importers. In the 1970s, the Kwara people of Nigeria discovered China as a commercial viable point but other Nigerians were busy importing from UK and other European states. The net result was having the Kwara people owning about 75% of the houses in Lagos.
Â
This covert business operation by the people of Kwara State was not discovered till the early 90s and by that time, the profit margin you can achieve by doing business with the Chinese has reduced considerably. The exodus of the Igbo people into this business region has also created huge barrier into making considerable profit. Profit can still be made in doing business with the Chinese but this system is now exclusively controlled by the Igbo people.
Â
Let me give you a little insight into an experience of mine; in preparation for my wedding, I saw a suit I loved so much for Twenty Five Thousand Naira (N25, 000.00). The suit was different from the other suits I saw in the array of suits in one of the low budget boutiques I entered. I loved the suit so much that I know the material anywhere in the world. One year after buying the suit, I saw the same suit in Rome for Four Hundred Euros which is equivalent to about seventy five thousand naira (N75, 000).
Â
Now, this was a shocker to me until I met a well travelled friend who told me the secret; Nigerians get their suits from China (cheaper labor cost, cheaper cost for sourcing material and discount export duty) while suits in Italy would be more expensive because of reverse situation. The quality of the suits was the same since I am extremely concerned about quality. I later visited Guangzhou, China, taking my wedding suit with me to compare them and to my surprise I saw the same suit for One Hundred and Fifty Reminbi which is equivalent to about Three Thousand Naira (N3000.00). Â
Â
I was not interested in suit business but I know that I could get it far cheaper than the N3000 if I buy in bulk and I go directly to the producers. I immediately started seeing how those formal illiterate Igbo traders could fly first class. Life was never the same for me after this experience and I knew it would be difficult for me to maintain my job. I thought I had seen it all until I recently encountered the same suit from an importer who told me he got it from Vietnam at an equivalent price of One Thousand Naira Only (N1000.00).
Â
I thought the guy was lying until he showed me his invoice. After careful research, I realize most people do not know about Vietnam. It’s one thing to know about Vietnam, it’s another thing to have the right contact information to maximize your profit. Due to lack of information, I nearly lost 2 million naira in an import deal from China. Since this incident, I have never gone into any business without the right information or research.
Â
My heart goes to the workers who are interested in doing business after retirement and have never prepared to lose money. Heart Attack is likely to be their friend. I advise workers who are interested in doing one form of business after retirement to start now on a small scale while they still hold on to their job as a crutch. It is better to fail early than fail when you are quite old with responsibilities.
Â
On my quest to Vietnam business, I met with a Vietnam Czar who made life very easy for me giving me the right information I needed. With just 500 USD, you can go into importation from Vietnam; that’s how easy it is but you must possess the right information. My pastor once said something that rings true about business; always use 60% of the business capital to buy books and information about the business. Â
  Â
It is also a fact that those that make the first entry into any business region are those that reap big time because most people wait to see proof before joining any business and by the time they want to join, competition sets in. This is why I am going to share with my faithful readers the secrets of entering the untapped Vietnam market and reaping more than one thousand per cent return based on the product you are interested in. I will be sharing information that can cost you millions of naira to acquire through experience.
Â
Only TEN INTERESTED PEOPLE can be accommodated. This lucky people would be discussing with me and the Vietnam Czar in a three hour roundtable lunch about importation from Vietnam, VISA collection, Best Buys, Logistics and contacts. This information would always prove to be invaluable to workers who want to test their waters, entrepreneurs who want to diversify, contractors who want to make supplies, guys who want to go on holiday (you must be tired of UK and Dubai by now), and the list goes on; please, fill in the gap……….

Balogun,
Dipo is kind to leave any of my comments up for any time. Dipo is a business man of businessmen, tops. Dipo is also a believer in Jesus Christ. He understands that there is a relationship of business in the world to the relationship of God in our lives.
If we seek our Bibles and look to God for his wisdom, we would begin to understand that chasing after BIG money is like chasing after the wind. What happens when we catch the wind in a jar? The wind sits up on our shelf, lifeless and looks rather empty. Our accomplishment is just something that we did and leaves us empty.
Ecclesiastes 11:5 tells us that we don’t know what God is up to in the same way we do not know where the wind is coming from or how the baby grows in the womb.
Bottom line, point.
If we invoke the name of God, or say that we believe in Jesus Christ then we have to own it. All of it. The bible is clear about chasing after money, we should chase after God and he will bless us with what we need and nothing more.
Question, What is it that you need?

Dipo, thanks for this info. Sometimes, i am tempted to believe that you are an Igbo man. Information is power. Be that as it may, though you may not mean any harm, it will also not do you any harm to please desist from the use of that work “illiterate Igbos”. I am an Igbo man and an ardent reader of your write-ups. I and I believe, so many other Igbo users of your site do not feel comfortable with the use of that word “illiterate Igbos”.

@ Ogu
Thanx for your concern and I believe I understand what you mean; I am sorry you took it the wrong way.
BUT I am simply describing one set of Igbo men.
I use the adjective “Formal Illiterate” for those that did not have Formal Education; this was not meant to be derogatory, it was just used to make the point clear by distinguishing it from Igbo men that have formal education.
Please, any other concerns, let me know.
Thank you.

God dont intend for man to be idle either.he that wont work should not eat innit?i wonder why people think thats its kind of spiritual snobbery to say that money is evil.i dont know ih you have a job because if you do then you are cahsing money too.i’ll suggedst that one has to go soemwhere seek God and money will fall from heaven.no pun intended but money on its own is neutral and once in the hands of its owner it becomes a good or bad servant.if God delights in the prosperity of his servant then i guess he wants us to have money and not be poor.for those who dont like to cahse money i think they should leave their jobs and get into a church or something and chase God!funny enough God blessings dont happen by money falling into your laps.go to the ant oh sluggard consider her ways and be wise says david.and he that dealeth with a slack hand tends towards poverty while he that deals with strong hand tends towards riches says solomon.since Ecclesiastes 11:5 tells us that we don’t know what God is up to in the same way we do not know where the wind is coming from or how the baby grows in the womb we should just chase God and do nothing so that moeny would sprout in our backyards or angels would bring money.since God gives thee power to make wealth then the power is to chase wealth says deuteronomy.chasing God even has nothing to do with chasing God-prallel lines!
infact i rest my case!i want more money dipo…lol

I thought of some questions overnight.
All work to eat, don’t we?
Are you saying that pastors do not work?
Don’t sinners and strangers believe that we must work to eat?
Dipo, are you saying that for every 1 unit of money I will receive 1,000 in return?
“…untapped Vietnam market and reaping more than one thousand per cent return…”
If 1000% is the return, why tell anyone about it?
Are not most people happy with 10% return on their investments? (God seems to be with us returning only 10% to Him.)
Look brothers, God directed men to work to sweat to eat after Adam’s sin. We all work and work hard because of sin. Jesus said that it is easier for a camel to go through an eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter into heaven. I like this one because even his disciples were upset. They were worried even though they had given up everything to follow Christ. Jesus reassured them that with man that going to heaven is impossible, but with God…all things are possible. (Matthew 19:23-30)
I am suggesting that more money does not bring happiness. Read Solomon’s story in I Kings. We find the wisest, most popular, and richest man ever.
1 Kings 10:23
So King Solomon surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.
What does Solomon say about wealth?
There seems to be two perspectives.
Proverbs 10:22
The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it.
Proverbs 11:28
He who trusts in his riches will fall, But the righteous will flourish like foliage.
God can and does bless people with wealth, and can be a razor’s edge. Distracted with wealth from God’s glory brings pain and anguish.
My point with my comments is to bring perspective, either walk with God and work as if we are working for Him (Colossians 3:23), or leave God out.

@Dipo
I wish I could make it to the seminar.
@All
whats all the noise about chasing money. We should always read scriptures with the aid of the Spirit and not with the conventional “church” views handed down by men.
We cannot serve God and money but we can and should serve Him WITH money. The love of money (not money itself) is the root of all eveil. The love of money has little or nothing to do with the chase of it. There are those who don’t chase it but they love it. If you do anything that violates your conscience, or the word of God in other to get money amounts to the love of it. If you put it first ahead of God, then you love it.
Another scripture that needs some explanation is Matthew 6:33:
Seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God and its righteousness and other things shall be added unto you. Please when next you read that verse, don’t over look the word FIRST because it has a lot to say. It didn’t say seek ONLY the kingdom of God… neither did it just say seek the kingdom of God but seek FIRST.
it can be xplained this way: 1) always put the kingdom first while chasing money and let kingdom projects be one your first rmotivations for making money, No wonder it is wirten that my kingdom through prosperity shall be spead abroad and established.
To seek the kingdom first means to consider the kingdom’s views and position on whatever it is that you want to get into in your chase of money.
2) The word first means seeking other things comes secondary (second, third etc) but must all be done in the light of the above xplanation. if it violates, then give it up.
Selah!
I think the problem is with the word chase, it smacks of desperation and extremity in in our quest for dough.
Cheers with luv!

Dipo,
Good thinking.
March 4, 2009 at 2:19 pm (UTC 1)
Let me add a futher clarification to my earlier comment. A clarification i know alligns with what we all know about Matthew 6:33.
To seek first the Kingdom and its righteousness means to first give yourself wholly to God. This infact should have been my first interpretation to this text b4 attempting to expantiate. When you have given yourself first to Him, then you can go out to seek money because having given yourself wholly to HIM, you will always be guided by the laws of His kingdom. This still brings us to my previous explanations where we first weigh, check and balance issues from the kingdom’s point of view.
Food for thought: the scirpture says that God feeds the birds of the air but the truth is, He never drops food in thier nests.
luv you still

@ John
Please, kindly review your JSS 1 mathematics;
1000% of something simply means 10 multiplied by the thing not 1000 multiplied by the thing.
The bible talked of Isaac reaping 100 multiple of his investment (Genesis 26: 12).
Jesus also talked about a 100 multiple of your investment if you sow in a good land.
I really do not have the strength to argue but if you need to learn, it is better you ask nicely.
Have a nice day!
